LOgO and C's

Finally I found the arty party kids. In C's we went for cheap drinks. Later French techno DJ's Laura Ingalls and Clement Pony invited for a dance at the club night "Acid Pony Club" in LOgO. Nice.

Taikang Art Street

With it's 18 million inhabitants, Shanghai various a lot. Saturday afternoon we went for a stroll in Taikang Lu. I was astonished by all the great design shops that spread through the tiny alleys. The girl on the upper photo is called Zhao Mengyun or Gabriella. She reminded me of the Japanese kids in early Fruits magazine.

Upper class entertainment

When the sun has set behind the flower decoration of the Prada store, the many Shanghai based Europeans and upper class Chinese people get ready to party. M1nt (2nd photo) is currently known as "the place to be". Attactions include the huge shareholder terrasse and a shark tank. Together with too many snobby, arrogant Europeans and some rich Chinese kids we danced to "fun" techno re-mixes. It was obvious that the club owners tried hard to make this a "cool" place. But their attemps just made me miss Berlin.
The  third photo shows the after hour club Mao. Here mainly Europeans dance and flirt to Minimal Techno. What I only recognized on the photo are the police men upstairs (right) that are watching the crowd. It's time to check out more underground clubs such as Shelter and L0g0...

Maskiert in Shanghai

Juli Fox is(s)t in Shanghai

Since one of the things I was most excited about going to China is the food, I post some images of my meals. On my first day we went with my sister's chinese friend Nicole, who's chinese name is "little sheep", to a restaurant on busy East Nanjing Rd (No. 479, 3rd floor). Together with vegetables and Wan Tangs we had fried ox toad (left), black chilli noodles and dry chicken pot. A very tasty start.

Vice has Heroes

Sitting in the Berlin Vice office working on a VBS series, I am finding out about other Online TV projects that are currently being produced here. One of them is the Heroes series in which Vice introduces musicians like Simian Mobile Disco and Bonaparte.

Monotonix

Friday Night, White Trash Fast Food, 23h, €6 and the madness beginns. Israels export Monotonix, a mix between Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, will leave the stage to play their gig in the crowd. As far as I know they have ordered 20 metres of mic cable, which will allow them to sing in the street. Almost, I think. Well, worth finding out.

Party the Argentinian way

Click on the image to see the cheezy CNN report about the "current global dance craze" Cumbia Digital

Party the French way

The Phenomenal Handclap Band is only one out of three live acts that are playing the Kitsuné floor in Ritter Butzke tomorrow. The selection of DJs promise a Rio feeling. So have fun following Coop's and In Love With's invite to celebrate the release of the 8th Kitsuné Maison mix. FB
